Why being good does not earn heaven?
Because...
Our good is not pure. Meaning there are times we do good and there are times we can do bad. We can not consistently be good all the time.
In God's holiness and justice, it is not based on how many good and bad have you done you earn salvation. A single sin can deserve hell. No man can deserve heaven as a sinner
The Bible said our good or righteousness, in God's standards is filthy, compared to rag of menstrous woman(DRC).
Isa 64:6: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
God is His Holy love, decided to SEND His beloved God the SON, Jesus Christ, to sacrifice in our behalf, to pay for our SINS, according to God's justice which is DEATH.
SEND:
John 3:16: "For God so ❤loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
JESUS IS GOD:
Heb 1:1,8: "GOD(FATHER), who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, … But unto the SON(JESUS) he saith, THY THRONE, O GOD❤, IS FOR EVER AND EVER: A SCEPTRE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTRE OF THY KINGDOM."
PAYMENT FOR SIN:DEATH.
Rom 6:23: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
JESUS PAID THE PAYMENT FOR SIN.
Phil 2:6-9: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Rom 5:8: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
GOD'S GOODNESS IS WHAT SAVES US NOT OUR OWN.
Luk 18:19: "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."
THE RIGHTEOUNESS OF GOD CAN BE RECEIVED IN CHRIST ALONE.
Rom 3:22: "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"
Rom 5:17: "For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)"
Rom 10:4: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."
1Cor 1:30: "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"
Gal 2:21: "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

REQUIRED BY JESUS TO BE RIGHTEOUS IN GOD'S EYES.
